Frequently asked questions
Selling online
How much does an e-commerce website cost?
More than a showcase site, because the catalogue, payment and delivery all have to be built. The price mostly depends on the number of products, the options (sizes, colours) and the delivery methods. On top of that come recurring costs: hosting and the payment provider's commission on each sale.
Shopify, WooCommerce or bespoke: what should I sell with?
Shopify is a monthly subscription, simple but limited in design and tied to the platform. WooCommerce runs on WordPress: flexible, but with plugins to maintain. Bespoke gives a unique, fast store. The right choice depends on the size of your catalogue and how much time you want to spend on it.
How do I accept card payments on my site?
Through a payment provider that handles security and banking compliance. You never store a card number yourself. Expect a commission on each sale, taken by the provider, not by your developer.
What are the legal requirements for selling online?
You need legal notices, terms and conditions of sale, clear information on prices, fees and delivery times, and a 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers. GDPR rules on data and cookies apply too. For your specific case, ask a lawyer.
How is delivery handled when selling online?
We configure your shipping costs (flat, by weight band, or free above a threshold), your delivery areas and click-and-collect if you have a shop. In-store pickup is often the best starting point for a local business.
Should I sell online if I already have a physical shop?
It's often a good idea: the online store works at night, reaches visitors and holidaymakers who've gone home, and doubles as a permanent catalogue. It doesn't replace the shop, it extends its hours and its reach.
Working with Helioz
How does a project with Helioz work?
A first conversation to understand your business, then a detailed quote. Nothing starts until you agree. After that come the mock-up, feedback rounds, development, and finally going live.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes, if you want to: we can add an admin area so you can change your text and photos without going through us. Bouhnik Expertises uses it every day.
Who handles the domain name and hosting?
We do. Domain name, hosting, security certificate and email addresses are all set up for you. The yearly subscriptions stay in your name and are listed in the quote.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Cannes and work all along the French Riviera: Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Le Cannet, Mougins, Antibes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Nice and Monaco. Projects can also be run entirely remotely, anywhere in France.
